Take control of your tone

The Variable Voice series of pickups was designed to cut thru the marketing jargon and take the guess work out of replacing your bass's pickups.  Looking for a pickup with crystal clear highs?  You can dial it in.  Want a warm, old school sounding pickup?  You can dial it in.  Not sure what sound want, but you don't want to spend big $$$ on multiple sets of pickups while you search for the right tone?  This is definitely the pickup for you!

The big secret in the pickup biz is that the resonant frequency of your pickups is what determines about 90% of what your pickup sounds like.  Wire size, different magnets, coil shapes, etc., all work to change the resonant frequency of the pickup, which is its tone, or its voice.  It basically puts an accent on the frequencies at or near where its located.  Shifting the resonant frequency around changes how high or low pitched the pickup is, and how apparent the accent is.
