Take Control of Your Tone

The Variable Voice series of pickups was designed to cut thru the marketing jargon and take the guess work out of replacing your bass's pickups.  Looking for a pickup with crystal clear highs?  You can dial it in.  Want a warm, old school sounding pickup?  You can dial it in.  Not sure what sound want, but you don't want to spend big $$$ on multiple sets of pickups while you search for the right tone?  This is definitely the pickup for you!

The big secret in the pickup biz is that the resonant frequency of your pickups is what determines about 90% of what your pickup sounds like.  Wire size, different magnets, coil shapes, etc., all work to change the resonant frequency of the pickup, which is its tone, or its voice.  It basically puts an accent on the frequencies at or near where its located.  Shifting the resonant frequency (RF) around changes how high or low pitched the pickup is, and how apparent the accent is.

The Variable Voice (VV) series allows you to shift where the RF is, and how apparent it is, right from on top of the pickup. Simply turn each dial to find your desired voice, no extra controls to install, no batteries, just total control of your pickup and your tone.

Tune to your bass

Easily dial in the response that you want with the top mounted tuning dials. Individually adjust both the resonant frequency (RF) and how apparent it is (its peak, or its Q). This is the secret to defining a pickups voice. You can now tune your pickup to match your bass, your equipment, and your own unique style.

Noise Free

Just like our other multi-coil pickups, each row of coils is a humbucker on its own, so noise is never a concern.
